Johor Baru BN to beef up election machinery

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Baru Barisan Nasional (BN) will merge all the operations rooms of its component parties to ensure that the election machinery for the Johor Baru parliamentary constituency functions more effectively.

Its member of parliament, Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad said most of the election operations rooms of the component parties in Johor Baru,  which previously operated on their own, would be merged and would function fully under the BN machinery.

He said this when officiating the briefing for BN polling agents for the Johor Baru Parliamentary constituency by the Johor State Election Commission attended by about 800 participants.

In the 2008 general election, Shahrir said there were 177 election operations rooms of the BN component parties in the Johor Baru parliamentary constituency, but this number would be reduced to only 89 during the 13th general election.

All the 89 BN election operations rooms in the Johor Baharu parliamentary constituency would monitor the election process in the 37 polling districts in the constituency, he said.

"The smoothness and effectiveness of the BN operations rooms in the Johor Baharu parliamentary constituency would ensure that BN continues to retain the Johor Baharu parliamentary seat," said Shahrir, who is also the Johor Baharu Umno division head. -- BERNAMA
