Moderate earthquake hits Samar, Philippines


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department reported an earthquake which occurred at 9.09 tonight and recorded 5.5 on the Richter scale, in Samar, Philippines.


It said in a statement, the location of the moderate-sized earthquake was about 60km Northeast of Samar, Philippines Islands and about 1,071km Northeast of Sandakan, Sabah.
There was no tsunami threat, it added. - Bernama
