Tiki Lafe to contest as BN-friendly Independent in Mas Gading

BAU (Sarawak): The incumbent for the Mas Gading parlimentary seat, Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe today announced that he would defend the seat as a BN-friendly independent as he was not selected to recontest the seat.


On Tuesday, Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud announced that a new face from the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP), Anthony Nogeh
Gumbek would be the BN candidate for the seat.
Tiki said he was contesting the seat following requests, encouragement and the strong support of his supporters.
"I have no quarrel (with) and still support the present government. I regard myself as still a BN person. I am contesting also to ensure that Mas Gading remains a BN seat."
He said this before about 1,000 of his supporters at a gathering of people's candidates who are friends of BN at Dewan Suarah, here.
Also present were the Barisan Nasional Club supporters led by the G5 Group. Among them were Datuk Peter Nansian, the incumbent assemblyman for Tasik Biru, Rosey Yunus (Bekenu) and
