IN 2010, he impressed over 5,000 fans at his maiden sell-out concert here, belting out beautifully written and arranged R&B tunes.

American-born, Hong Kong-based Khalil Fong, who made waves with his soulful music, will be here again for another concert.

Jointly organised by Star Planet and Warner Music Malaysia, Khalil Fong 15 Concert Live In Malaysia 2012 will be at the Arena Of Stars, Genting Highlands on July 14 at 8pm.

15 is Fong’s sixth album, released after his 2008’s Timeless cover album. According to his album liner notes, 15 was the age in which he first learnt to play the guitar and  compose songs. Naming his brand new tour 15  refers to memories of his early musical exposure. Fong, who is uniquely creative in his music arrangements, will entertain with old and new songs, each of which will be given a new arrangement. The concert will also showcase some blues music, a genre that he was passionate about in his growing-up years.

A self-taught musician, his ears were his teachers and his father’s music collection exposed him to artistes such as Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Little Richard, James Brown and Chuck Berry, which instilled his love for soul and R&B.

Tickets for the concert are priced from RM130 to RM400 (excluding RM3 processing fee). The official ticket launch is scheduled on April 21. Call Star Planet 03-9223 3667, Ticket Charge 03-9222 8811, Genting 03-2718 1118 or log on to www.starplanet.com.my.
