Cathay Pacific celebrates 55 years in Malaysia with special anniversary promo

AS Malaysians get ready to celebrate the nation’s 55th year of independence on Aug 31, another celebration is also taking place this month. It’s Cathay Pacific Airways’s 55th anniversary in Malaysia! Its first flight arrived in Kuala Lumpur from Hong Kong on Aug 11, 1957.

It is still soaring high, winning awards along the way while enhancing its services to cater to even the most discerning travellers.

The enhanced services are testament to how the airline has grown together with the Malaysian travel market. Recently, it was voted the World’s Best Business Class in the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2012.

It launched its 55th Anniversary Promo on Aug 6, offering airfares with attractive discounts up to 55 per cent for Business and Economy class tickets to selected destinations in Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, China, Japan, United Kingdom/Europe, United States, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The sales end on Aug 16.

It has added daily services from Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong, bringing the total flights to the vibrant destination to four a day. It also offers 10 flights weekly between Penang and Hong Kong, with three additional services on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The new services bring the total number of flights between Malaysia and Hong Kong to 38 a week.

For those who fly beyond Hong Kong to Sydney, New York, Toronto, Vancouver, and London, Cathay Pacific’s new Premium Economy Class is a total enhancement of Economy Class experience — offering more comfort, space and personal attention. On the ground, passengers will appreciate the dedicated check-in counters, additional baggage allowance and priority boarding.

In the air, a pleasurable experience awaits with a comfortable seat, enhanced catering, better entertainment and even more of Cathay Pacific’s renowned personal service — all in a spacious and cosy cabin that features from 26 to 34 seats.

For passengers who wish to have a perfect balance of privacy and openness, its new Business Class is designed to provide the best of both worlds. Centre seats allow interaction with a fellow traveller, while window seats are slightly angled to give a perfect view. The seat transform into a full flat bed that is longer, wider and more comfortable, ensuring that passengers arrive at the destination refreshed. The new Business Class is being progressively introduced in the Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A330-300.

Other thoughtful touches include increased personal storage space, a shoe locker, a 15-inch TV with Audio and Video on Demand and a precision toggle that allows passengers to adjust the seat position to fit  their posture.
