TO kick off GSC's 25th anniversary celebrations this year, Golden Screen Cinema (GSC) treated the media to dinner at Paradiso Restaurant and held preview screenings of Viral Factor and The Iron Lady in GSC Signature and The Gardens Mall MidValley, recently.

Playing host was Koh Mei Lee (GSC chief executive officer), Irving Chee (GSC general manager), Liew Aing Suan (senior manager, Cinema Exhibition), Heng Beng Fatt (senior manager, Corporate Services) and Tung Yow Kong (senior manager, GSC Movies).

This year, GSC has added eight new cinemas to its fleet of theatres to celebrate its anniversary.

The new cinemas will include GSC Setia City Mall in Shah Alam,  GSC Paradigm Mall in Kelana Jaya, GSC City One Mall in Kuching, Palm Mall in Seremban, Amanjaya Mall in Sungai Petani and GSC Nu Sentra KL.

GSC has also launched GSC Lite to cater to smaller  audiences without  leaving out the magic of the big screen and the digital sound hall. This allows GSC customers to enjoy cinema movies at competitive prices.

The new GSC Lite  cinemas will be the 6-screen GSC Mentakab Star Mall and 9-screen GSC Bintang Mall in Miri, while the current GSC Pelangi Leisure Mall, GSC Central Square Sg Petani, GSC Ipoh Parade, GSC Terminal 1, Seremban and GSC Berjaya Megamall in Kuantan will be converted to GSC Lite cinemas later.

GSC has allocated more than RM84 million for the new cinemas.

To commemorate its silver anniversary, other key activities have also been planned.

This includes Media Night, 25th Anniversary dinner in April for key business associates and partners, free offers to the public on April 1 (anniversary date), Goodie Bag Day to reward GSC customers, a nationwide contest, Carnival Saturdays in key locations and a major corporate social responsibility project towards the end of the year.  The details for the anniversary activities will be updated from time to time in the GSC 25th Anniversary website in www.gsc.com.my.

GSC also plans to introduce the GSC Mobile App for the Samsung Tab 10.1, an online purchase for concession items and more payment modes for online purchases with Hong Leong Connect and AmBank Group.

Speaking at the launch of GSC's 25th anniversary logo, Koh thanked the media for its support. She said GSC  GSC now has 191 screens with 58 digital halls in 23 locations.
