Here’s a quick look at the programmes for the festive weekend and beyond, writes Dennis Chua

WITH Hari Raya Aidilfitri tomorrow, many interesting programmes await viewers over the next few days.

Catch TV3’s Sampaikan Hari Raya (11pm, today) and Melodi Raya (noon, tomorrow). There’s also 8TV Quickie Raya Special at 10pm today. Over TV9, Galaksi Raya comes at 8.30pm tomorrow. On TV2 tomorrow, catch variety shows include Aktif 5 Raya (4pm) and Fenomena Raya at 10pm.

Other entertainment specials on TV3 include Dialah Juara (6pm, tomorrow), the national footballers’ Bola Pun Raya (11pm, Monday), Irama (6pm, Tuesday) and Mentor Raya (9pm, Aug 26).

ntv7 features exciting movies such as Prime (today, 11pm) and A Better Tomorrow 2 (Monday, 8.30pm) while a two-part musical special featuring Elvis Costello, Lou Reed and Julian Schnabel will be aired at 2am tomorrow morning and 1am on Monday morning. Also, don’t miss Nicholas Ong and his special guest in the 7 Raya Special (today, 4.30pm).

 Over on TV1, movie Tuti Polka Dot (Monday, 10.30am) tells the story of a cake enthusiast, and stars Jihan Musa and Liza Abdullah.

Musical shows include Gema Aidil Fitri (Wednesday, 2.30pm) which features Datuk M. Daud Kilau and Noraniza Idris, followed by Jamal Abdillah’s Konsert J 2011 at 2.30pm on Friday and Datuk Sharifah Aini’s concert at 9pm on the same day.

TV2 is offering movies including Saksikan Fajar Syawal (2pm, tomorrow), Baju Kurung Mama (1.30pm, Monday), Bonus Hari Raya (10pm, Tuesday), Konangan (10pm, Thursday), Duit Kau Duit Aku (10pm, Aug 26) and comedy Aku Bukan Konan (10am, Thursday) and Kasih Di Aidil Fitri (Thursday, 10pm).
8TV also airs the 54th Grammy Awards today (11pm) and the European Music Awards 2011 at 10am tomorrow, followed by the MNet Asian Music Awards 2011 at 10pm.

On Monday, the channel airs the Big 8 Bash Concert (12.30am) and the Style Icon Awards 2011 at 10am. Also, don’t miss Universal Soldier at 10pm on Monday and the Video Music Awards 2011 at midnight on Tuesday.

HARI RAYA EVE

Tipu Kanan Tipu Kiri (TV2, 2pm)
A husband-and-wife team of recording artistes from Indonesia has to keep their marriage a secret as a result of their recording contract. Starring Titi Kamal, Christian Sugiono, Natasha Hudson and Hans Isaac.

Sebelum Raya (TV3, 6pm)
Jeff and Nana, a couple, are facing hard times. Starring Almy Nadia and Joey.

KL Gangster (Astro Ria, 9pm)
Syamsul Yusof, Aaron Aziz and Adi Putra star in this action-packed film about a criminal who seeks redemption.

Mega Raya (Astro Ria, 11pm)
Join Astro’s stars Aznil Nawawi, Stacy Anam and Shahir Zawawi, among others, in celebrating Raya with evergreen songs.

HARI RAYA DAY

Mael Lambong (TV3, 9pm)
Mael Lambong is an efficient car repossessor. One day he meets Maria who takes him on a crime-busting mission. Starring Zizan Razak, Juliana Evans and Taiyuddin Bakar.

Raya Bersama Ziana Zain, Amy Search dan Erra Fazira
(TV3, 11pm)
Join rock legend Amy Search and pop queens Ziana Zain and Erra Fazira in this special concert that showcases their popular Raya songs.

Dua Dalam Satu (TV3, 11.30am)
Anzalna Nasir and Anas Ridzuan star in this comedy about Ham who is in love with Mia, despite their parents’ objections.

From London With Almond
 (TV3, 4pm)
Sabariah is married to her job. Her younger sister Sabrina lives in London and is reluctant to return home. Starring Miera Liyana and Lisdawati.

Raya Tanpa Wayar (TV9, 12.30pm)
Tok Ali is a hard-working villager who wants to master computer technology like his grandchildren. Starring Jalil Hamid and Ruminah Sidek.

Khurafat (Astro Ria, 12.30am)
Syamsul Yusof and Liyana Jasmay star in this haunting film about a sinful husband.

It’s A Great Great World
 (Astro Citra, 7pm)
Olivia Ong and Gurmit Singh star in this moving film about a famous amusement park in Singapore.

SECOND DAY OF RAYA

Nur Ramadan (TV3, 9.30am)
Nur’s mother Syakilla remarries Latif but the man proves to be an unkind stepfather. Starring Fauzi Nawawi and Fouziah Gous.

Muat Tak Muat (TV3, 4pm)
Maisarah is tight-fisted, until she meets kindly Hamid, her loyal customer. Starring Izreen Azminda and Fizo Omar.

Jangan Pandang-Pandang
(TV3, 9pm)
A group of archaeology students go on a treasure hunt in a cave at Tasik Kenyir in Terengganu. Starring Zizan Razak, Sara Ali, Miera Liyana and Nas-T.

48 Jam (TV3, 6pm)
Hanez Suraya and Roy Azman star in this romantic comedy about Azman who is pressured by his parents to find a wife.

Apa Dah Jadi (Astro Ria, 10am)
Farid Kamil and Intan Ladyana star in this romantic comedy about a married couple who face a lot of mishaps on their way back to their kampung for Hari Raya.

Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa (Astro Ria, 9pm)
This is an action-packed interpretation of the life of the legendary King Merong Mahawangsa of ancient Kedah. Starring Stephen Rahman-Hughes.

THIRD DAY OF RAYA

Syoklah Raya (TV2, 2.30pm)
Saiful Apek, Zizan Razak and Kartina Aziz star in this comedy about a zany village in Batu Pahat.

Fatihah Untuk Abah
(TV3, 9.30am)
Dollah, who is ailing, gets a surprise visit from 17-year-old Fatimah, whom he abandoned years ago. Starring Faizal Hussein and Sharifah Amani.

Takbir Along Untuk Angah
(TV3, 4pm)
Amir and Amri are brothers who live with their widowed mother. One day, their long-lost sister Azura returns home. Starring Eja and Aida Rahim.

RA One (TV3, 9pm)
Datuk Shah Rukh Khan stars in this science fiction movie about a super robot which protects India from a deadly enemy.

Senario Sayang Ayah (TV3, 11pm)
Wahid is an old man who is seldom visited by his son Zul. Starring Wahid Mohamad, Azlee Jaafar and Mazlan Ahmad.

Sekali Lagi (Astro Citra, 11pm)
Shaheizy Sam and Lisa Surihani star in this film about a man who has forgotten about his less-than-favourable past.

Laila Isabella

Remy Ishak and Maya Karin star in this romantic comedy about an actress who finds peace and love in a rustic village in Perlis.

Cinta U-Turn
(TV2, 1pm, Thursday)
Hafiz’s father Datuk Shuib forces him to marry Juliana, the daughter of their family friend. Starring Awie and Fasha Sandha.

Sabar Tak Sabar
(TV3, 4pm, Thursday)
Remy Ishak stars in this movie about Salman who works for the demanding boutique owner Sabariah.
