GSC Cinemas kicked off its 25th anniversary celebrations this year with exclusive screenings for the media, of Chinese New Year movie Viral Factor and bio-drama The Iron Lady at GSC Signature, The Gardens Mall Mid Valley.

The event was attended by GSC chief executive officer Koh Mei Lee, general manager Irving Chee, senior manager (cinema exhibition) Liew Aing Suan, senior manager (corporate services) Heng Beng Fatt and senior manager GSC movies Tung Yow Kong.

Part of the silver anniversary programme this year includes an addition of eight cinemas with an additional 71 screens to its current 23 locations nationwide.
Scheduled to open later this year are a nine-screen GSC Setia City Mall in Shah Alam (May) nine-screen GSC Paradigm Mall in Kelana Jaya (May), 10-screen GSC City One Mall in Kuching, 10-screen GSC Palm Mall in Seremban, eight-screen Amanjaya Mall in Sungai Petani and 11-screen GSC Nu Sentra KL.

In line with the celebrations, GSC also launched GSC Lite, a new range of cineplexes that caters to smaller market centres without compromising the all-round cinematic effects of the big screen.
This allows GSC customers to enjoy cinema-going experience at competitive prices.

The new cinemas under GSC Lite will be at the six-screen GSC Mentakab Star Mall (this month) and the eight-screen GSC Bintang Mall in Miri (November).

The current GSC Pelangi Leisure Mall (Johor Baru), GSC Central Square Sg Petani, GSC Ipoh Parade, GSC Terminal 1, Seremban and GSC Berjaya Megamall in Kuantan will also be converted to GSC Lite cinemas.
 GSC has allocated more than RM84 million for the eight new cinemas this year. To commemorate the anniversary, key activities include goodie bag day to reward GSC customers, a nationwide contest, carnival Saturdays and a major corporate social responsibility project towards the year end. GSC also plans to introduce GSC Mobile App (Android) for the Samsung Tab 10.1”, online purchase for concession items and to include more payment mode for online purchases with Hong Leong Connect and AmBank Group this year.
