The latest creations from Haagen-Dazs leave Zuhaila Sedek wanting more
WHEN a woman is down and weary, a scoop or two of ice cream can do wonders — more so when enjoyed with family and close friends. The latest offerings from Haagen-Dazs — High Tea Affair, Macaroon Melange and the limited edition Petite Temptations — are good options.
High Tea Affair, suitable for four people, is served in two forms — mini scoop and macaroon. Placed in a three-tier tray, its ice cream flavours are cookie dough chip, Belgian chocolate and strawberry.
Cookie dough chip is Haagen-Dazs' latest invention and it’s yummy! It melts in the mouth and is not too sweet, which is lovely. Belgian chocolate is also a winner, as is the strawberry-flavoured one.
While the flavours are marvellous, I find the portion a tad small. It’s easy to savour all the scoops by yourself in a jiffy.
While High Tea Affair is fantastic, at RM84, I find it a pretty costly affair given the portion of the serving.
The ice cream macaroons are brilliant. There are six flavours - — caramel biscuit and cookies, strawberry, chocolate, cookies and cream, and green tea. The ice cream is "protected” by shells made of chocolate and sandwiched in-between is Chantilly cream.
The macaroons are served with mango sauce and garnished with almond nibs and strawberries. How wonderful! The green tea ice cream is a bit bitter, though.
To add texture, the last tier contains fresh fruit such as kiwi, raspberry and grape.
A couple can opt for the a la carte Macaroon Melange at RM29, or RM65 per box of eight pieces.
Petite Temptations come in chunks of buttery cookie dough and sweet fudge chips with vanilla ice cream. To add colour, sweetness and a touch of sour, mango and chocolate sauces are drizzled onto the plate.
I didn’t get to sample Petite Temptations (RM29 for two people), but patrons have said it tastes as good as the rest.
All promotions come with a cup of tea of your choice and are available at Haagen-Dazs outlets nationwide till May 31.
