WHEN everything did not play out the way he wanted it to, Singapore teen idol Joshua Ang took to Twitter, criticising TV host-cum-DJ Dasmond Koh’s film, Timeless Love, which also marked Koh’s debut as a director.
The movie, shot in Bintan Island, off Indonesia also starred, apart from Ang, Aloysius Pang, Xu Bin and Kimberly Chia.
Ang, who was in Jack Neo’s We Not Naughty, said on his social media account that he was not happy with the production of the movie. He wanted creative licence for Timeless Love but Koh didn’t entertain his request.
However, both remain on good terms. Koh, who was in Kuala Lumpur recently, has seemingly put the entire episode behind, and appeared upbeat. Also with him at the Press conference were Pang, Chia, Xu Bin and Issac Dang, who sings the theme song.
Timeless Love is said to be Singapore’s answer to Taiwanese Giddens Ko’s You Are The Apple Of My Eye, which had record takings at the box office in Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Timeless Love is a romantic drama about unrequited teenage love and loss. Morgan (played by Pang) finds a lease on an island and a strange photo while looking through his grandmother’s belongings after her death.
Recalling a story the old lady used to tell him about having some regrets, Morgan sets out to unravel the mysteries of the island and the lease.
“Taiwan has its own take on teenage love. So, why not a Singapore version?” said Koh. What my story has as its message is when you love someone, just go for it. Dare to love and be loved,”When the movie was released in Singapore last month, film critics gave it mixed reviews. Local moviegoers will only get to see it next month.
Timeless Love opens in cinemas nationwide on May 3. The movie is distributed by MM2 Entertainment.
