There’s something for everyone in Astro’s Negaraku campaign
ASTRO celebrates the best of Malaysia with more than 160 titles, 56 of which are new, on various channels in conjunction with the 55th Merdeka celebrations.
The Negaraku campaign from Aug 15 to Sept 17, will include a new dedicated channel, My Hometown (Channel 318), which features videos of hometowns as submitted by 14 young filmmakers in My Hometown Short Films, a project of 14 short films made in each State.
Vincent De Paul, vice president, News, Content Group, says in a Press release: “Astro will showcase the best of the country through a variety of content, both on air and online, to match the diverse taste of our viewers. Malaysians, young and old, urban and rural, will find their favourites among the programmes offered.”
These will include Era Kegemilangan Sukan Negara (Era 50an-90an) on Astro Arena (Channel 801), Agenda Awani — Banyak Etnik, Banyak Budaya & Satu Bangsa on Astro Awani (Channel 501), Behind The Dialect Groups on Astro AEC (Channel 301) and The Evolution Of Music In Malaysian Tamil Films on Astro Vellithirai (Channel 211). The country’s rich diversity and culture will also take centre stage on Astro’s international channels.
Leading the lineup are Inside: Istana Negara on National Geographic Channel (Channel 553), Revealed: Malaysia’s Majesty — Twice A King and Eye On Malaysia 2: Royal Carver on Discovery Channel (Channel 551), Passage To Malaysia: Feast In The East and Art And About on TLC (Channel 707), Siti Nurhaliza on BIO (Channel 731), Special Forces: Malaysia GGK and Last Journey To Sarawak on History (Channel 555).
