Spartacus: Vengeance’s new season promises more gore and glory-seeking gladiators
CAPUA is in an uproar. The gladiators have escaped and formed an alliance. Their leader, Spartacus, vows to exact revenge on the man responsible for killing his wife. But he soon realises that life is about something greater than avenging the death of Sura. His next mission: to build an army, setting the slaves free and topple the Roman Empire.
In Spartacus: Vengeance, Australian actor Liam McIntyre takes on the lead role while Lucy Lawless of Xena: Warrior Princess fame joins him as Lucreatia.
The new season, which airs on today at 11pm on Max (Astro channel 411) will also see the return of characters from its first instalment, including Craig Parker, who plays Gaius Claudius Glaber, the Roman commander who condemned Spartacus to slavery.
Actress Cynthia Addai-Robinson also joins the cast as Naevia, former slave to Lucreatia (Lawless), who was banished from the ludus (training school for gladiators), for engaging in a love affair with Crixus (Manu Bennet).
The series also stars Peter Mensah as Oenomaus, Manu Bennett as Crixus, Dustin Clare as Gannicus and Nick Tarabay as Ashur.
