Go retro with MPO and The Alleycats

THE Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra will present a special concert themed MPO Goes Retro at 8.30pm on Sept 1.

Witness the pioneering collaboration between the MPO and renowned band The Alleycats in this acoustic concert, featuring evergreen hits — Hingga Akhir Nanti, Senandung Semalam, Kerana Kau, Sampaikan Salam, Sekuntum Mawar

Merah Sebuah Puisi, Jika Kau Bercinta Lagi, Layang-Layang Terputus Tali, Nota Terakhir, Kuala Lumpur and Seribu Bintang.

These beautiful songs will be given a new arrangement for orchestral music.

The MPO will also perform hits from the 1970s and ‘80s from singers Jay Jay (of Carefree) and Fredo (of Flybaits).

Jay Jay and the MPO will present Belaian Jiwa, Joget Mak Enon, Rindu Bayangan, Dendangan Laguku and Kini Baru Kau Sedar, while Fredo will sing Kenangan Lalu, Mengapa Perpisahan Yang Kau Pinta, Kasih Berubah and Gurisan Terakhir.  

The concert will be conducted by Datuk Ramli MS who conducted the MPO in Tan Sri SM Salim’s concert in 2001 at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas in KLCC, Kuala Lumpur.

It is part of the DFP Seni Festival, a one-week celebration of music and cultural diversity.
