Home run

PHILLIP LaDon Phillips, Jr. or more popularly known as Phillip Phillips, is an American singer-songwriter from Leesburg, Georgia.

After winning the 11th season of American Idol last May, this 22-year-old talented musician went on the American Idol LIVE Tour with the rest of the Top 10 finishers of season 11.

Home is his debut single and coronation song from the TV reality show, and was co-written by Drew Pearson and Greg Holden, and produced by Pearson. Phillips first performed the song on the season’s final performance night on May 22, and then again on the finale after he was declared the winner.

His recording of Home was released as a single on May 23, and included as a track on the American Idol Season Finale — Season 11 EP. The single debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 with a first week sales figure of 278,000 downloads.

It has the biggest digital sales week for any Idol winner’s coronation song, and it became the best selling of all coronation songs.

The song will also be included on his debut album, The World from the Side of the Moon, set for release on Nov 19. Produced by Gregg Wattenberg, with Phillips writing or co-writing most of the songs, a track from the album entitled Where We Came From was released on Nov 6.
