It’s a fun hit

THE catchy single We Are Young, performed by New York City-based pop-indie band fun and featuring Janelle Monae, has become an anthem to many.

With lyrics like “Tonight, we are young, so let’s set the world on fire, we can burn brighter, than the sun” in its chorus, why wouldn’t it be?

The strong beat and melody of its chorus are also contributing factors to its success. The power ballad, which is an alternative rock and power pop song, proves to be a breakthrough number for the band.

It climbed the Billboard Hot 100 chart and claimed the top spot for six weeks, and had a resounding success in digital downloads.

Since its release on Sept 20 last year, the song has been featured numerous times, including in a Glee episode, which helped boost its popularity.
