TODAY is the last day to enter the Venetian Carnival’s inaugural International Jazz And Blues Band Competition. Entries close at 6pm.

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will see finalists flown to Macau to perform in the three-day Venetian Carnival from May 25-27. The hopefuls will compete for US$64,000 (RM128,000) worth of cash prizes.

“Entries have exceeded expectations,” says Brendon Elliott, Venetian Macau vice president of sales and resort marketing. “We received a flood of interest from Asia, Australia and Europe.”

After a review by a panel of high-profile music veterans, 12 successful entrants will enjoy a package of flights, ferry tickets, accommodation and food and beverages sponsored by The Venetian Macau.

The competition is open to vocalists and instrumentalists as well as groups of up to six musicians. The first prize is US$32,000, the second US$19,000 and the third US$13,000.
