Rapper behind Gangnam Style


PARK Jae-sang or better known by his stage name, PSY, is a well known singer-songwriter, rapper, dance musician and record producer from South Korea.

He released his phenomenal single Gangnam Style in July this year, and immediately shot to the number one spot in the Gaon Chart in Korea. Popular for its humour, catchy rhythm and unusual dance moves, the music video has been viewed over 190 million times as of Sept 17, making it YouTube’s most watched K-Pop video.

Gangnam Style has officially charted the number one spot on the iTunes Music Video Charts, overtaking Justin Bieber’s As Long as You Love Me and Katy Perry’s Wide Awake. This feat is a first for any South Korean artiste.

Popular for his humorous videos and stage performances, the 35-year-old performer made a breakthrough in the Korean’s entertainment scene in 2001 with his debut album, PSY... From The Psycho World!.

Nicknamed Bizarre Singer for his peculiar dance moves and daring performances, PSY was quick to gain fans and garner interest from the music fraternity. He has received invitations to appear in various popular television shows including Good Sunday: X-Man, The Golden Fishery, and Saturday Night Live.
