Time for some soul-searching

FOLLOWING the success of his debut album, Room For Squares, in 2001, 34-year-old American pop and blues singer-songwriter, John Mayer’s album, Born And Raised, leaves enough room for the fans and music critics alike to reel in his soul searching songs.

Born And Raised also marks another change in Mayer’s musical style. He cleverly mixes folk, Americana and just enough of country rock to get fans excited.

Queen Of California begins with a subtle entry of acoustic guitar that carries throughout the song’s honey-sweet melody.

But it is Shadow Days that stands out. Amidst the gentle country rock melody, the simple lyrics about a man trying to  rediscover his self  after a couple of setbacks, makes this song one of the best in the entire album.

The 13-track album also includes Speak For Me, Something Like Olivia, Born And Raised and A Face To Call Home.

John Mayer’s fifth studio album, Born and Raised is his best one yet
