Watch as Ida The Jazzbird and Elvira weave magic together

THE Alexis Bistro in Great Eastern Mall, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur presents Ida Mariana & Elvira Arul — Double Bill at 10pm today and tomorrow.

Ida and Elvira are two of the most sought after jazz singers in town with distinctive, but equally soulful voices, contributing to a chemistry that is undeniably powerful, soulful, funky and strong yet soft at the same time.

Ida, who hails from Kangar, Perlis is nicknamed The Jazzbird. She is known for her velvety voice and is armed with a charm that is both captivating and fun.

An accomplished theatre actress who blew audiences away as Bayan in Puteri Gunung Ledang The Musical, she is  known to take on the stage with grace and finesse.

Mainly influenced by Blossom Dearie, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holiday, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Lara Fygi, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra, this accomplished vocalist is always ready to charm your heart.

KL-born Elvira has worked with local artistes Datuk Sheila Majid, Misha Omar, Reshmonu, Jaclyn Victor and VE as well as international stars Kenny B, Rachel White and Phil Perry over the years.

Also a theatre actress, she blew fans away as Effie in the Malaysian staging of Dreamgirls last year.

Ida says: “We have been singing together for quite some time and since we’re so different vocally, something magical happens when we come together.”
