Classic shades vie with vibrant hues in Parkson’s men collections this Hari Raya, writes Sushma Veera

IF you’re hoping to get a tailored suit for Hari Raya, it’s too late. But Parkson department store has some interesting ready-made traditional apparel for men.

Key pieces include baju Melayu, songket, kain tenun and buttons. They are in cotton, linen, silk and chiffon.

At a recent showcase, music from a gamelan ensemble  filled the air as models walked down the runway, dressed in baju Melayu, which has the cekak musang collar.

The men’s Raya 2012 collections are from brands including Bac Medacena and EMZN. With classic patterned fabrics and summery, vibrant hues of dandy yellow, lime green, bold blue and shocking pink, the collection presents a refreshing take on tradition while capturing the elegance of traditional attire. Classic shades like brown, ash grey and black are also stunning.

The baju Melayu is not complete without songket and kain tenun, which also come in woven designs and  different colours. Take your pick from customary  and trendy hues. Available at selected Parkson outlets.
