KAJANG: A total of 600 specially designed reflective stickers and 200 buckle-up reminder stickers were distributed to motorcyclists during Allianz Malaysia's 15th Road Safety Advocacy Campaign recently.
Allianz Malaysia also facilitated the exchange of 50 unsafe helmets that were too old or not Sirim-approved with Sirim-approved ones.
In addition to the helmets and stickers, 15 child safety booster seats were also distributed to motorists with young children at the Grand Saga Toll Plaza here.
Research has shown that the use of the reflective stickers can increase the night visibility of motorcyclists, as it can be seen from a distance of up to 300m.
The buckle-up reminder stickers are to remind riders that the proper use of helmets is essential to their safety.
It has been proven that the proper use of helmets can reduce the risk of death in an accident by nearly 40 per cent.
The child safety booster seat is designed as a child restraint to enable a child to use the passenger vehicle three-point seat belt by boosting his or her sitting height so that the sash of the seat belt is over the shoulder and across the chest, while the lower part of the seat belt is worn low on the child's lap.
Allianz Malaysia plans to hold 30 road safety advocacy campaigns nationwide this year.
It is also looking into extending the road safety awareness campaigns to universities.
Last year, Allianz Malaysia held 11 road safety advocacy campaigns and distributed 550 helmets across Malaysia in collaboration with the Road Safety Department, while 132,000 reflective stickers were distributed.
Allianz Malaysia also participated in eight road safety advocacy campaigns organised by the department's head office in Putrajaya and its respective state offices in various locations.
