Watch housewives go through a series of fun challenges in ntv7’s new reality show, writes Loong Wai Ting

WHEN it comes to tasks such as shopping, cleaning and getting a chore done, no one does it better than housewives.

Their skills in bargaining and understanding of time management, borne out of years of experience, make it easy for them to carry out such tasks. To pay tribute to these amazing women, ntv7 kicks off with a new reality game show called Aunty Must Go Crazy tonight.

The show will see two “aunties” (participants) from selected towns or villages battling it out on numerous fun challenges. These include searching for a specific dish or produce, acting as tour guide and looking for a specific product of high quality. The aim is to test participants’ knowledge of the area they live in.

The 11-episode show was shot in various locations, including Muar, Raub, Nibong Tebal, Sitiawan, Port Dickson, Sungai Udang and Petaling Street.

“The show pays tribute to these often under-appreciated women. We also want to show how an ordinary individual can turn into an extraordinary one when faced with an obstacle,” says host Eean Koo who is also the director of the show.

Each episode will feature one winner. The winners will then proceed to the second round, with only three advancing to the finals. However, in the wildcard round, the remaining eight contestants will be given another chance to battle for the last spot in the finals.

Co-host Lu Ser Yee, who was in the early stages of pregnancy when filming began, says: “We were doing an episode in Raub where we were driving through a thick jungle in a four-wheel drive. At that time, only a handful of the crew knew I was pregnant. The ride was so bumpy that I ended up shouting ‘I am pregnant!’ and everyone just stopped.”

However, Lu, who is now into her fifth month, refused to let the situation stop her from continuing filming. “Everyone at home encouraged me to carry on and do my best. And a little exercise will not hurt!”

Aunty Must Go Grazy airs tonight at 7pm. Visit www.ntv7.com.my for details.
