    Ann Dunham’s Legacy: A Collection of Indonesian Batik Where: Special Gallery 1, Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, Jalan Lembah Perdana, Kuala Lumpur

    A rare opportunity to view the private batik collection of Ann Dunham, the late mother of US President Barack Obama. Twenty pieces of her batik bought in the 60s and 70s when she stayed in Jakarta, as well as her personal momentos will be on show. Along with the exhibition will be a description of the rich history of batik, especially in its designs, wearing and making. This exhibition is organised by the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (IAMM) and the US embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

    Lee Joo For, 83, who is also an accomplished poet and playwright, has migrated to Australia in the 1970s. Forty-one of his paintings, including works from as early as the 1960s, are on sale. His favourite subjects are horses, bulls, the female forms and tigers.

    Coming Of Age — Forgotten Faces Of Greying Asian Photography Exhibition

    Featuring the works of David Tay Poey Cher, president of The Photographic Society of Singapore. It showcases the faces of old folks whom the photographer had met in a two-year trip around Asia. The works have also been compiled into a book, the sales of which go towards helping the elderly.

    Featuring the works of landscape artists Khalil Ibrahim and Shafurdin Habib. Khalil’s forte is fishing villages of the East Coast while Shafurdin’s is kampung scenes in exquisite watercolour and acrylic.
