Comedy Club is back

THE Comedy Club KL brings back Dr Jason Leong of the Malaysian Association of Chinese Comedians (MACC) on Sept 18 at 7pm at Samplings On The Fourteenth, Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Jalan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur.

This time Dr Leong is joined by Australian comedian Ro Campbell, famous for his Scottish humour and sharp wit, and Canadian Pete Johansson, a favourite at London’s renowned Comedy Store.

Campbell, based in London, spent six years performing in Europe, and at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe back home.

He has performed at the last five Edinburgh Fringe Festivals and was honoured by magazine The Scotsman for Best Jokes Of The Fringe in 2009. He has also written for British television and radio and was Scottish Comedian Of The Year 2010.

Johansson is based in London and has appeared on Radio 4’s show Loose Ends and performed alongside Stephen Merchant, Stewart Lee and Simon Amstel. His hit solo Edinburgh show, Naked Pictures Of My Life, has garnered rave reviews in Britain.

Dr Leong has been with the MACC troupe since last year, its fourth and newest member. The MACC troupe also comprises Douglas Lim, Phoon Chi Ho and Kuah Jenhan.

Dr Leong is the founder of open mic show Comedy Kao Kao and has worked alongside popular Malaysian stand-up comedians such as Harith Iskander and Lim in Master Joke Malaysia. He has also opened for Singaporean comedian Kumar in Kumar Live In KL 2012. He is a regular at The Comedy Club’s monthly shows in Kuala Lumpur.

The showcase is hosted by Augustin Dennis.

The trio will be at The Bee, Publika, Solaris Dutamas, off Jalan Duta, KL at 8.30pm on Sept 19 and The Stage, Avenue K, Jalan Ampang, KL on Sept 21.

At 8.30pm on Sept 20, they will be at PJ Live Arts in Jaya One, Jalan Universiti, Petaling Jaya. The showcase is organised by LOL Events.

Entry is RM99++ (with a three-course dinner) on Sept 18, RM63 (Sept 19 and 21) and RM50 (Sept 20).
