HOODWINK, a Malaysian-made point-and-click adventure game, is now exclusively available at Electronic Arts’ online store, Origin (store.origin.com).
Authored by E-One Studio, the PC game features Michael Bezzle, a small-time thief trying to make good and win the girl of his dreams. Gamers get to test their skills against ruthless lawmen, chocolate-loving cyborgs and even vicious killer plants dwelling in the dystopian world of Global-01.
E-One Studio chief executive producer Amir Irwan said Hoodwink took about five years to produce, with the support of Multimedia Development Corporation and Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional. “We hope the game will appeal to those who love adventure games,” he said.
Amir added that the three-month exclusive offering via EA Origin shows that local talents are being recognised by the international publisher and distributor. “We have a good working relationship with Origin and the collaboration also allows a better profit-sharing that benefits independent developers like us.”
He added that the strength of Hoodwink lies in its storytelling, graphics as well as components such as puzzles. “Another strength is the E-One engine which we developed in-house,” says Amir.
He noted that a good game engine can grow to support multiple genres and platforms. “Our next games release is an action adventure which will also use the zxsame engine.”
