OLYMPUS has unveiled a new addition to its PEN Lite camera range which boasts of more features to thrill shutter bugs.
The PEN EPL-5 comes in three colour variation features,and is equipped with a 16 megapixel sensor, Fast Touch AF Shutter feature, 12 art filters and Olympus Image Share solution to cater to the Wi-Fi generation. Sporting several design improvements such as interchangable grip, tiltable monitor for self-potrait and premium finishing, the EPL-5 is complemented with built-in tools such as improved macro shooting and custom self-timer which help users take up to ten shots at 0.5 to 3 seconds intervals.
The Olympus Image Share or O.I.Share solution works best when used with the Flash Air card, a storage media produced by Toshiba. The Wi-Fi enabled media allows users to transfer photos from the camera to iOS and Android devices and make it sharable via Twitter or Facebook. The solution also allows users to download more Art Filters to get creative with the photos that taken using normal mode. The application is available for free for both mobile platforms.
Along with the launch, Olympus announced an exciting range of accessories for the latest PEN models, as well as the development of M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f1.8 lenses.
Heading the accessories list for the PEN system is the dust and splash-proof M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm f2.8 Macro which is only 185g. Another innovative accessory is the BCL-1580 15mm F8 Body Cap Lens, which combines a lens protective cover with a glass lens that is good enough to take close up shots at up to 30cm. For users who loves the water, there is also the PT-EP10 for E-PL5 Underwater Casing.
Another new compact model unveiled is the Olympus Stylus XZ-2, which comes embedded with a processor and Art Filters similar to the one offered by the Olympus OM-D. The 12 megapixel model comes with Hybrid Control ring and switch to give users a new experience with the device. Apart from O.I.Share, the model also comes with a rich set of accessories including grip, body jacket and tripod.
