SHAH ALAM: The Selangor state government should provide assistance to Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) in resolving the water supply disruptions faced by several areas in the state instead of pointing finger at others, said Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) coordinator Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed.
He said that as the holder of 30 per cent equity in Syabas, the Selangor government should be together with the water concession company to find ways of ensuring that water supply could be channelled to the people without any disruption.
"The power held by the state government can resolve the issue systematically if they acted rationally for the future wellbeing of the rakyat in Selangor instead of using the water issue to fulfill their political agenda," he said at a media conference, here today.
Mohd Zin said the BN-led federal government had proposed the construction of the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (Langat 2) and formed a special committee to tackle the water crisis in Selangor in July last year, but both were rejected by the Selangor government. -- BERNAMA
