Student Khalid Ismath released on police bail

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed that Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) student Khalid Mohd Ismath, 22, who was arrested for alleged involvement in the April 28 rally has been released on police bail.

 

Kuala Lumpur CID deputy chief ACP Khairy Ahrasa said Khalid was released at 11am today at Cheras district police headquarters after investigation on his involvement in rioting and damaging public property was completed.
 
"Police are completing investigation papers to proceed with legal action against Khalid soon," he said when contacted here today.
 
This followed a police report made against Khalid who is alleged to have kicked a traffic policeman and charged at police during the violent rally.
 
Khairy said as of yesterday, 91 people whose photographs were published by newspapers for alleged involvement in the rally have not surrendered or were arrested.
 
"So far, only two people remain in our custody since Thursday," he said.    
 
On allegation that Khalid threatened to kill policemen via his Facebook account, he said that the matter is being investigated by Selangor police.
