CAMERON HIGHLANDS: The MIC disciplinary committee will have the final say on action to be taken against members who sabotage Barisan Nasional (BN) component party candidates in the 13th general election.
Party president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel said the onus was on the committee to investigate and take the necessary action.
"If we find members who are saboteurs, action will be take against them," he said when asked on a statement by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that BN would sack members who worked against its interests in the run-up to the general election.
Muhyiddin, who is also BN deputy chairman, had also said that BN would set up monitoring teams, comprising trustworthy and independent people, to check on the problems ahead of the polls.
Earlier, Palanivel, who is also Minister in the Prime MInister's Department, attended prayers for the construction of the new SRJK (T) and Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Ladang Blue Valley.
Palanivel, who is also Perak MIC chairman, said the 155,000 registered Indian voters in the state would be the deciding factor in 33 state seats. Perak has 59 state seats.
"Although the number is small, when compared to Selangor's 285,000 registered MIC voters, their votes will also decide the winner."
On the seat allocations in Perak, he said, both the Hutan Melintang and Sungkai state seats would be contested by MIC candidates. However, negotiations were on-going for the Pasir Panjang and Behrang seats.
"We are also looking at the possibility of swapping," he said.
The latest speculation is that MIC will ask for the Tronoh state seat, which is currently held by DAP's V. Sivakumar.
