KAJANG: IT was a busy week for police here  when they seized three firearms and arrested six suspects wanted for various cases.

Last Thursday, a gang fight broke out at a seafood restaurant in Jalan Reko here.

Following the incident, the restaurant owner alerted the police after spotting a pistol on the floor.

Police found an STI 2011 Legend International Georgetown TX automatic pistol with a single round in the chamber.

The registration number on the pistol had been filed off.

In the second case, acting on a tip-off, police raided a house in Taman Alam Jaya on Sunday and arrested a 29-year-old man.

They recovered several items, including a MP3 player, which was believed to have been stolen.

The following day, the suspect led police to a house in Taman Orchid in Batu 9, Cheras.

The houseowner attempted to flee on motorcycle, but was cornered before he could speed off.

Police then found an Indonesian woman hiding in a bedroom and discovered she had no travel documents.

Numerous mobile phones, watches, laptops and printers were also seized.

"The two suspects are responsible for several break-ins," district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said, adding that they also tested positive for drugs.

He said police also found various tools, which were used to break into houses.

The third case also occurred on Monday when police received a tip-off on illegal firearms and raided a house in Sungai Ramal Dalam.

Two men -- a welder and a waiter -- were detained.

"We recovered numerous items including 50 bicycle ball bearings, 20 sharpened metal pieces, a homemade pump gun and a Beeman air rifle."

In a follow-up operation, police nabbed a petrol station owner on Tuesday to facilitate investigations for illegal possession of firearms.

All three suspects, aged between 33 and 43, have been remanded until Saturday.

In Ipoh, an increase in firearm cases is worrying the police.

They seized two homemade pump guns, 96 pieces of steel balls, 18 packets of plastic balls and a compressor. The suspect's remand order expires today.

In another case, he said police nabbed a 30-year-old storekeeper, acting suspiciously, in front of a restaurant in Taman Sejati, Sitiawan, Manjung, at 4pm on Sunday.

The man than led police to his house in Ayer Tawa where a pistol and a magazine were seized.

In another case at 10.20pm on the same day, Shukri said police detained three men while they were changing cars after robbing an accessory shop in Jalan Slim Baru, Tanjung Malim.

"In the ensuing commotion, we managed to seize a Smith & Wesson revolver loaded with five bullets from one of the suspects."
