WE thank V. Thomas for his feedback via his letter "EPF can set up house for all" (NST, May 1).
It is the intention of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) to develop the land in a manner that would cater for various income levels, including the provision of affordable housing and certain parcels of land will be used for this purpose.
However, in considering the overall welfare of its more than 13 million members, the EPF's primary objective is to grow the retirement savings of all members.
On this note, the development will be done on a commercial basis to ensure a commercial return for our members' savings.
With respect to the suggestion to name landmarks and roads in the new township after pioneers, the idea will be brought up with the respective city councils which have the final say on these matters.
