Burst pipe on highway

SUBANG JAYA: About 50,000 residents living in parts of Subang Jaya and Petaling Jaya faced water disruption due to a burst pipe.

The burst  happened near the Clock Tower underpass on the Federal Highway leading to Shah Alam, said a Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) spokesman.

About 12,810 households from Kelana Jaya, SS7, Section U1, Glenmarie and SS12 until SS19 were affected.

"Most of the pipes were installed in the 1960s and they could have burst due to  pressure," said the spokesman.

As of press time, the repair was  still ongoing. The problem was due to be  rectified  by evening yesterday.
