Litrak fetes underprivileged kids

CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY:Litrak organises three programmes to reach out to the community

LINGKARAN Trans Kota Group (Litrak) recently  held its three corporate responsibility programmes  at its operations complex in Bandar Sunway, here.

It was part of its initiative to show the group's commitment towards the community during festive season, especially for the underprivileged children.

The first event saw the launching of Merdeka Trivia in conjunction with the upcoming Independence Day.  In this programme, Litrak will be distributing 30,000 pieces of Merdeka Trivia flyers to about 30 schools along the route of the  Damansara Puchong Highway (LDP) and Sprint Highway.

The flyers contain fun facts about  Tunku Abdul Rahman, also known as Father of Independence, and his  role as an independence fighter. This programme was aimed at educating the young on  the  sacrifices of Tunku  in propelling the country from colonialism to independence.

The second part of the programme was the launching of DeCare Challenge in conjunction with Litrak Group Road Safety Campaign. The programme,  in collaboration with Perbadanan Putrajaya, is aimed at raising the community awareness of road safety in a fun way.

SK Sri Hartamas, SK Bukit Lanjan, SK Bandar Sri Damansara (1), SK Bukit  Damansara and SK Sungai Penchala will participate in an interactive road safety competition to be held soon.

The final segment of the event was the presentation of duit raya to 55 children from Pusat Jagaan Lambaian Kasih, Kampung Sungai Penchala. A week earlier, Litrak had treated them to a shopping spree where the children who were given RM150 each bought their new Raya clothes at Aeon One Utama.

Litrak also treated them to a breaking of fast.

Malaysian Highway Authority director-general Datuk  Ismail Md Salleh launched the event.

"We are committed to continuing this tradition as it  strengthens  ties with the community. It is our desire to share happiness with everyone, regardless of age, race and religion," said Ismail.

"This is also a significant event for Litrak as we are able to organise three different programmes simultaneously. "

Meanwhile, Litrak Group chief executive officer Sazally Saidi announced that there would be  toll discounts for Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) and the Sprint Highway on Hari Raya Aidilfitri and National Day.

He said LPD users can enjoy a toll discount of 60 sen while Sprint Highway users will get a discount of 20 sen on the first day of Aidilfitri. On National Day, LDP users can go toll-free  while Sprint Highway will give a 20 sen discount.

"The discount is given to all types of vehicles. We want motorists to enjoy the benefits and we hope the spirit of 1Malaysia would make the Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Independence Day celebration more meaningful," said Sazally.
