KLUANG: THIRTY-FIVE  Orang Asli families here who were relocated from Kampung Gunung Lambak to Kampung Tanah Runtuh  nine years ago are  living the good life.

    Before the relocation, they  eked out  a living  by harvesting jungle produce.

  At Kampung Tanah Runtuh, each family was given 2.4ha of oil palm land which generates a monthly income of between  RM2,000 and RM2,500.

   Now they can afford to own  cars, motorcycles and enjoy entertainment.

  Tok Batin Sahari Md Arif said, besides working in their oil palm plantations, residents also worked at a nearby factory.

  "We are  grateful for all that we have now. Since we moved here, we have enjoyed facilities such as a playground and administrative office.

  "However, we do have a request. We hope  the  authorities will provide street lamps at the access road as it gets very dark at night."

  The three Orang Asli families who refused to leave Kampung Gunung Lambak have been advised to move as they have been   missing out on the development opportunities enjoyed by the other villagers.

  Kluang land administration officer A. Malik Ismail said there weren't any  problems for them to move to Kampung Tanah Runtuh   because   houses and 12ha of land were waiting for them in the new village.
