MERSING: A 37-year-old man is making some extra bucks from printing T-shirt designs.
Saharudin Adon, who sells vegetables near his house in Teriang Besar, Endau, here, said he prints the designs on corporate shirts, T-shirts, jerseys and caps.
"Several years ago, I worked at a Johor Baru-based company that specialises in fabric printing.
"In 2008, I forked out RM3,000 to start my own business.
"With the additional financial aid from the Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda), which gave me RM10,000, I invested in sewing and cloth-cutting machines.
"The machinery allows me to accept orders to sew custom-made T-shirts," he said.
Saharudin said his customers are mostly local folk in Endau.
"The orders range from 30 to 150 pieces.
"It takes about a week to fulfil the orders," he said.
Saharudin's 62-year-old mother Setee Jonid, meanwhile, helps out by planting vegetables such as lady's fingers and chillies at their backyard, and he would sell the vegetables to those living in the neighbourhood.
