3 Selangor spots register unhealthy APIs
KUALA LUMPUR: Three spots in Selangor registered unhealthy pollutant index (API) today, following several hotspots activities and the dry weather conditions in several neighbouring countries.
The API for Shah Alam, Port Klang and Kuala Selangor were registered at 106, 130 and 131 as at 11am this morning.
The first reading at 7am had already showed the readings to be above 100.
The Department of Environment classified the API reading between 0-50 as good, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (un healthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy) and more than 301 as hazardous.
The API for Cheras in Kuala Lumpur and Seri Manjung in Perak was also registered on the high side as at 11am.
Cheras saw an API of 91 (86 at 7am) and Seri Manjung 94 (92 at 7am).
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Service Singapore said elevated hotspot activities were detected in Central and Northern Sumatera during the current dry weather con ditions.
“Localised smoke plumes with slight to moderate smoke haze were also detected in the vicinity of the fires.
"Scattered hot spots were also detected in Borneo and Vietnam. Elsewhere, isolated hotspots were detected in Laos, Cambodia and Thailand,” it said in its portal which is linked to DOE’s Air Pollutant Index Management System.
