THE Faculty of Allied Health Science University College Shahputra (UCSA) has provided a pathway programme for students to qualify for the MBBS Programme with a foundation in science.
This programme is designed to prepare students who wish to pursue a career in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy or other related degree courses.
The country’s economic growth has largely impacted its health system especially the demand for health services of high quality. This programme is offered in line with the government’s policy to increase the quality of services in the biological and health science sector by combining knowledge, technology and humanities skills.
With the increase of both government and private hospitals, the need for trained workers in the field of medical science is critical. Subjects like biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and English are taught to students to prepare them for problem-based learning when they pursue their higher education in local universities or abroad.
For students who intend to pursue a bachelor’s degree programme in medicine, dentistry or pharmacy, they must obtain a minimum of five credits with the minimum of a B in biology, chemistry, mathematics or additional mathematics, physics in their SPM. The must also obtain credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
Additionally, UCSA offers the Certificate in Science for students who are interested in pursuing a diploma in science-related disciplines. To qualify for this programme, students must pass their SPM with a minimum of one credit in science, physics, chemistry or biology. Besides that, they must obtain credits in mathematics, Bahasa Malaysia and English.
Students are taught leadership training, responsibility, involvement in the community, and to have a professional attitude in their lessons. They are also regularly challenged to put their knowledge to the test by completing projects.
They learn in a dynamic environment where the teaching and learning process promotes two-way interaction and sharing of knowledge and resources with one another. Learning also takes place beyond the classroom through interaction with working professionals, participation in competitions and other activities.
