Nexus International School, Putrajaya (NISP) was recently granted membership of the Council of International Schools (CIS) following an inspection visit by the CIS regional accreditation officer, Ray Davis. CIS provides recognition and quality assurance to international schools around the world.

NISP is owned by Taylor’s Education group and located in Putrajaya. Since opening in 2008, the school has become known for its progressive and rigorous approach to the personalisation of learning for its diverse community of students. Over the past year, NISP Board of Governors and staff have carried out a searching self review in preparation for the inspection visit, at the same time as they were preparing to gain authorisation to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma in August 2012. Everyone is very happy to have gained acclaim from two prestigious international organisations in one week.

The CIS written report drew attention to teachers’ deep understanding of the IPC and IGCSE curriculums and to the high quality of teaching and learning at the school. Mr Davis also praised the Board of Governors for its vision of creating a 2st century learning environment that utilised innovative approaches to enhance learning and noted that they had provided the investment for high quality infrastructure and resources. Following interviews with parents and students, he concluded that there is a strong positive and supportive atmosphere within the school and between the school and parents.

The newly opened Boarding House came in for particular praise, being described as a world class facility that was being extremely well run for the benefit of the boarders.

Principal Dr Stuart Martin was impressed with the comprehensive nature of the inspection visit and pleased with the feedback. He commented that, “such a positive report is both an acknowledgement of the work that has been done over the past three years, and also the catalyst for further improvement in the future. We are all committed to building on these foundations as we continually strive to provide our students and families with the best possible education and experiences. Significant development is currently underway and we will begin the new academic year in August with more teachers, a wider range of programmes and many exciting new opportunities”
