LANGKAWI: A trip to an eatery for sahur (pre-dawn meal) ended with two friends being killed in an accident at Jalan Bukit Malut-Kuah here yesterday.
In the 2am incident, the victims were in a car which skidded and hit a tree.
Afiszul Adha Abu Bakar, 21, and Zakaria Zainol, 19, died on the spot from serious head and body injuries.
Zakaria's mother, Saadiah Nayan, 54, said the last time she saw her son was at breaking of fast with the family at their home in Kampung Bukit Kemboja here the previous day.
"I cooked his favourite fish curry and he ate a lot during breaking fast. I never thought that it would be our last meal together," said Saadiah at the Langkawi Hospital mortuary.
Saadiah said Zakaria, who is the fifth among six children, worked at a car wash centre here.
Langkawi district traffic department investigation officer Inspector Mohd Fami Jaafar confirmed the accident.
Fami, however, declined to name the driver.
