EXTRA BUDGET: Fiscal deficit to remain at 4.7 per cent

SET to take place  next year, the Youth Parliament will cost the government RM600,000 annually after it was decided to  introduce online voting for parliamentary candidates.

He said the nation's fiscal deficit was also expected to remain at 4.7 per cent. Awang Adek said this when he tabled the Supplementary Supply Bill for a second reading.

The extra budget allocates RM360 million to the Election Commission, about RM113 million to the Prime Minister's Department and RM446 million to the Works Ministry. About RM11.2 billion has been earmarked for treasury general services.

The EC's RM360 million is to pay for preparations and running of the 13th general election. Of the RM11.2 billion in treasury services, almost RM7.5 billion will go for petroleum subsidies and RM3.2 billion is for salary increases.

The Education Ministry will get RM195 million, Home Ministry RM353 million and Defence Ministry will get RM210 million.

The extra budget allocation will add to the RM181.5 billion allocated in the 2012 Budget.

The RM360 million allocated for the Election Commission will be used in the 13th general election.
