KAJANG: Seven members of the People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) have been remanded for a week over the death of a Nigerian man at the Venice Hill Condominium on Saturday.
Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said the victim, Onochie Martins Nwankro, 32, was allegedly beaten to death in the incident after he was accused of molesting a local woman.
The death sparked off a riot by 150 Africans who confronted the Rela officers and destroyed the condominium's guard house.
Ab Rashid said police were waiting for the victim's post-mortem results. He added that his men had enhanced patrol in the area following requests from the residents.
