COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS: Ramadan is a time to be grateful for what you have and to share it
IN the spirit of Ramadan, Persatuan Kebajikan Anak Melayu Pulau Pinang presented cash donations to 12 orphanages and tahfiz schools in Klang Valley yesterday.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, who graced the event, said Malaysians should be grateful that they lived in a harmonious and peaceful environment.
"We are blessed. We live a very comfortable life compared to many in other countries.
"Ramadan is a time for us to be thankful for what we have, and to share our fortune with the less fortunate," he said after breaking fast with the children from Rumah Bakti Dato Harun in Hulu Kelang.
Association president Datuk Kamil Khalid Ariff Mushir Ariff said members visited orphanages and tahfiz schools in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor to pick the 12 most deserving ones.
Among the beneficiaries were Rumah Bakti Dato Harun, Maahad Al I'tisam Litahfizi Al-Quran, Persatuan Kebajikan Anak Yatim dan Miskin Al-Munirah and Rumah Anak-anak Yatim Shifa.
"We will not stop here; our members will continue to visit the asnaf (those deserving of tithes) throughout Ramadan," Kamil said.
