HARMONY: Solve internal woes through engagement process, says Muhyiddin

KOTA KINABALU: DEPUTY Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin called on Sabah Umno and Barisan Nasional leaders to strengthen relations through cooperation and understanding among the parties in line with the requirements of the religions professed by all races in the country.

Muhyiddin said party members should be wise to resolve internal problems through the engagement process to strengthen the party in the state.

"We must stress on strong cooperation to ensure BN is empowered. Avoid bringing up racial sentiments.

"Parties who try to create racial problems are irresponsible. We don't want any racial issue and that is why I urge Umno leaders to continue strengthening relations through cooperation."

He said he was also satisfied with the preparations of Umno and BN for the coming general election which would be held at anytime.

Muhyiddin, who is also the Umno deputy president, said BN was a coalition that fulfilled its promises based on its development achievements, including in Sabah, under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

"The prime minister has introduced various transformation programmes which have given extraordinary impact to the people for a better livelihood, higher incomes and more comfortable lives."

Muhyiddin, who was in the state capital with his wife Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman, joined thousands of villagers in a breaking of fast event at Masjid Jamek in Kampung Likas.

He was accompanied by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, state legislative assembly speaker and state Umno deputy liaison chief Datuk Seri Salleh Said, among others.

Meanwhile, Musa said Sabah BN was ready to face the coming general election and would continue fighting for the betterment of the people and the state as a whole.

He stressed that component parties of the state BN would work hand in hand to ensure Sabah remained a bastion of BN.

Earlier, Muhyiddin visited the Indah Permai Ramadan bazaar during a walkabout in Sepanggar near here.

Shoppers and traders grabbed the opportunity to greet the deputy prime minister.

Muhyiddin also officiated at the mosque's multi-purpose hall and presented aid to single mothers and the elderly.
