KUANTAN: It was a tough fight between the Welfare Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) and Sabah Elected Representatives' Wives Association (Bakisa) at the final of a badminton tournament here yesterday.

Bakisa emerged as the champion when it won three of the five games in the badminton tournament held in conjunction with the annual programme for Barisan Nasional elected representatives' wives.

Bakti collected the first point when its doubles team, comprising Bakti president and prime minister's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and Datin Seri Lee Sun Loo, defeated Bakisa's pair Datin Seri Panglima Siti Jouyah Mohd Yunin and Datin Noraini Salleh in straight sets.

The second point was contributed by Bakti's fifth doubles pair Datin Khadijah Md Amin and Datin Melissa Shireen Munshir against Bakisa's Datin Mahani Sulaiman and Datin Seri Panglima Maria Joney.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak presented the prizes at Universiti Malaysia Pahang's sports complex in Gambang near here.

Present were Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob.
