Call to register as voters

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP is urging eligible voters to register before Sept 15 to qualify as voters for the 13th general election if it is held in January or later.

DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) chief Anthony Loke said yesterday it was unlikely the elections would be held this year, but did not rule out the possibility.

He said this after announcing the launch of the party's voter registration campaign video.

Loke, who is also the Rasah MP, said new voters would make a difference in the next general election, especially as the number of unregistered voters outnumbered the margin between the opposition and Barisan Nasional.

"As at April, there were 3.3 million Malay-sians who had yet to register as voters."
