BATANG KALI: The 870 families here affected by flash floods early this month received a stove and twomattresses each yesterday.
"For some people, these may not seem much. But for those who had their essentials washed away, this is a huge boon for us," said flood victim Saijan Amin, 59, from Kampung Batu 30.
Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar handed the mattresses and gas stoves from the 1Malaysia Putera Club to the families from the Batang Kali and Serendah areas affected by the May 7 flash floods.
Present were Hulu Selangor member of parliament P. Kamalanathan and club president Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.
"This is the proof of our 1Malaysia slogan -- 'People First, Performance Now'.
"When we were here that day, we gave food for a week and promised to deliver more help, and here we are doing it.
"We deliver on our promises," said Noh.
He told the people to see the past records of Barisan Nasional's achievements and compare them with Pakatan Rakyat's leadership in the state.
Noh also said that the people of Hulu Selangor should be proud of their representative who had worked hard for the people.
Azeez said they had asked the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry to help farmers whose livelihoods were affected by the flash floods.
"The farmers here are the biggest exporters of crops to the Klang Valley. They need help and we will help them."
