KLUANG: The Human Resource Ministry is targeting to get jobs for more than 90,000 housewives this year under the 1Malaysia Support for Housewives programme.
Its deputy minister, Datuk Maznah Mazlan, said the programme, introduced by the government through the Blue Ocean strategy, was not only to provide a supplementary income for them, but also to improve their families' incomes.
She said last year, more than 110,000 housewives, including single parents and the disabled, participated in 10 programmes under the 1Malaysia Support for Housewives.
The programme, introduced in July, allowed them to earn between RM600 and RM2,500 a month, she said after the launch of the 1Malaysia Support for Housewives, here, yesterday.
She said the programme was carried out with the cooperation of the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, Defence Ministry, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry, Rural and Regional Development Ministry, Finance Ministry, Higher Education Ministry, Prisons Department and other agencies.
The jobs offered to participants include sewing, making handicraft, food and herbal products and product packaging. Bernama
