SITIAWAN: About 230 members of the Sitiawan Lions and Lioness clubs, including those from other states, and SMJK Nan Hwa Sitiawan Leo Club members attended an installation dinner here recently.

The dinner, held at the Bei King Restaurant, saw teacher Krishnasamy Ramasamy installed as the Sitiawan Lions Club's 40th president while retired teacher Tirlok Devi Biaspal was installed as the Lioness Club's 34th president.

Guest-of-honour was Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha. Also present were Orang Besar Jajahan Manjung Datuk Ab Wahab Azizul Hassan and wife Datin Zashah Wong Abdullah.

Kong, who is also Lumut member of parliament, praised the Lions and Lioness Club members for serving the community. Kong's speech was followed by the presentation of service awards to members, followed by an induction of new members Dr Muthoo Sundrasan, Dr Subramaniam Muthaloo and Jeganathan Manikam.

Lion vice-district governor Ooi Chao Syuan convened the installation ceremony and introduced the new board of directors for the year 2012/2013.

The Lion and Lioness of the Year awards were presented to retired school teacher Naidu Applasamy and Hospital Bahagia Ipoh accountant Nandini Rajagopal respectively.
