STAR TRIP: Convoy with two celebrities becomes instant hit as it tours 10 villages to promote carnival
IPOH: THE two-day Jelajah Janji Ditepati (JJD) convoy, which finished its journey yesterday, has received encouraging response from tens of thousands of Perak folk.
The convoy, which comprised some 20 representatives from TV3, ntv7, 8TV, TV9 and Hot FM, made stops at 10 villages to mingle with the locals.
It also created publicity for today's JJD carnival at the Advance Technology Training Centre (Adtec) in Taiping. Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is scheduled to open the event and more than 100,000 people are expected to attend.
Unlike the previous JJD convoys in Johor, Sarawak and Kedah, this time, Media Prima Bhd brought along two celebrities -- Tam of Kecil-kecil Cili Padi and actress Ani Suraya -- to light up the event. Both became instant hits with the locals.
Media Prima Radio Network head of events Noormaida Mohamad, who led the JJD convoy, said she was glad that the team received encouraging response from the people.
"We always strive to improve wherever we go.
"We also hand out Media Prima merchandise to the locals who took part in the various activities and quizzes."
Yesterday, the convoy of five cars started their journey at Pengkalan Baru and ended at Bukit Merah. Along the way, they stopped at Kuala Kangsar and Selinsing.
Noormaida said the convoy had visited nearly 40 locations in all the four states it toured.
Altogether, they would visit about 90 locations in nine states where JJD carnivals would be held.
A visit to Adtec yesterday showed that final preparations were being made for the carnival.
JJD is a collaboration between Media Prima and the Federal Government to promote the products and services provided by the government directly to the people.
There will be exhibitions as well as briefings on 1Malaysia initiatives such as 1Malaysia Housing Programme (PR1MA), 1Malaysia Clinic and 1Malaysia People's Menu.
