GEORGE TOWN: "Oghe Kelate" (the people of Kelantan) were reminded to return home and vote in the next general election so that they can see positive development in the state in the years to come.

Kelantan Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Mustapa Mohamed said the people of Kelantan would have to come together for the sake of seeing their home state prosper and be successful.

"We (Kelantanese) are known for our distinct hardworking and tireless attitude in whatever we do and wherever we go.

"It is about time that we also channel this same energy for the development of our beloved state."

Mustapa added that the strength of Kelantan was in its people but many of them had migrated to other states for greener pastures.

"There are 870,000 registered voters in Kelantan, but between 130,000 and 150,000 of these voters are residing out of the state."

He urged them to return home to vote and help develop Kelantan.

Mustapa made this request after opening the Pemukiman Anak-Anak Kelantan (Pakat) Kelantanese gathering at the Tapak Konvo in Universiti Sains Malaysia campus here on Saturday night.

He later joined the crowd to watch the first-leg of the FA Cup semi-final match between Kelantan and Kedah on large screens at USM campus.

To the crowd's surprise and delight, he joined a Dikir Barat group and sang along with them for 45 minutes, to rousing applause from the audience.

Mustapa also urged the Kelantanese not to forget the good deeds of the Barisan Nasional government in creating employment.
